General Oblivion

Q: How do I use the console?
A. Make sure you have the console enabled in the Controls Menu, and then press the "~" key (U.S. Keyboards).

Oblivion Reborn

Q. How do I connect to a server?
A. The easiest way is to use OR:Express (found on the downloads page) to find a server and connect to it. Once in game, talk to Lord Drakus to connect to the server. Do not save after you have connected, or if you do, don't use that save next time you try to connect (it causes problems).

Q. Where is Lord Drakus? I can't find him?
A. Make sure you have OblivionReborn.esp enabled, and look in the Imperial Palace. He is on the raised circular cobble-stone pathway that surrounds the Imperial Palace. He is about 2 heads taller than the other characters, you can't miss him.

Q. How do I chat?
A. When in game, and connected to a server, open the console (make sure the console is enabled in the controls menu, then press the "~" key to open/close the console). Next, type this: mpchat all "This is my chat"

Q. What is movement sync?
A. Simply put, OR gets your position, and sends it to the other players. On their screen, an NPC is placed at your location.

Q. Why isn't the other player moving?
A. There are many reasons. You may want to try disconnecting and reconnecting, and if that doesn't solve it, make sure you can reproduce the problem and then post a detailed bug report.

Q. Why is the other player "warping" around?
A. This is usually caused by high latency.

Q. What is animation sync?
A. When you perform an animation, OR sends data to other players to make the actor representing your character perform the same animation(s).

Q. What is equipment sync?
A. OR tells other players what Items you are wearing so that the actor representing you can wear the same thing.

Q. What is stat sync?
A. OR sends your characters stats (Health, Speed, Charisma, etc) to other players so that the actor representing you can act the same way.

Q. When will stats sync be available?
A. We plan to include this feature in the September release (See Release Features).

Q. How does PvP work?
A. PvP, when implemented, will work just like in any other game. There will be a toggle to enable it and when enabled you can be attacked and attack other players at any time. There will be "safe zones" in various places where PvP will be permanently disabled.

Q. When will PvP be available?
A. We plan to include this feature in the October release (See Release Features).

Q. What are the limitations of "Partial" NPC sync?
A. "Partial" NPC sync means that all in-city NPCs will not move around. Their AI and stats will be sync'd but they will be static.

Q. How does NPC sync work?
A. As of this time we do not have NPC sync working. When we do we can explain it.

Q. When will Partial NPC sync be available?
A. We plan to include this feature in the September release (See Release Features).

Q. How does the player trading system work?
A. When implemented, the player trading system will allow players to trade items between each other or share a common storage area. Each player will travel to a local trader NPC or storage area and can talk to the NPC while the other player(s) do the same. The players can then trade items via the NPC.

Q. When will Player trading be available?
A. We plan to include this feature in the October release (See Release Features).

Q. What is a Server-wide economy?
A. A server-wide economy means that the gold and items on all of the NPC's is dynamic and is based on how and when the players buy and sell with the NPC's. This means that if a large number of players sell to one merchant that merchant will not have gold to buy anything else. Also, the more players sell an item to a vendor, the lower the global price of that item will be. The more players buy an item, the higher that price will be.

Q. When will it be available?
A. We plan to include this feature in the October release (See Release Features).

Mods

Q: How do I know if my mods are compatible with OR?
A. Any mod that does not affect the world content is compatible but it will not be shared with other players nor will it be supported. Any mod that changes the stats or AI of NPC's and monsters is NOT compatible.

Q: How do I know if my mods are compatible with other players?
A. Allowed mods are compatible with other players if all connected players have the EXACT same mod load order.

Troubleshooting

Q: I'm missing a file. Where can I find it?
A. Consult the Tutorial for a link.

Q: How do I know if my Oblivion Version is up to date?
A. OR requires version 1.2.0.416 of Oblivion/Shivering Isles.

Q: I have the Shivering Isles Beta Patch, what do I need to do to be able to play OR?
A. The Tutorial covers this, click the "1.2.0.410" button on the first step.

Q: I have a Direct2Drive copy of Oblivion, can I use OR?
A. Unfortunately not for legal reasons. The Exe is encrypted, so the obse_launcher will not work.

Q: How can I find my Oblivion Directory?
A. OR:Helper includes this information in its report under the heading "Install Path". If it can't find it, you may need to reinstall oblivion (If you have any non-English software, you may need to modify OR:Helper's ini file).

Q: I do not see OblivionReborn.esp on the Data Files screen. What do I do?
A. Make sure the esp is in your \Oblivion\Data\ folder.

Q: I am in front of the Imperial Palace, but I don't see Lord Drakus. What do I do?
A. Make sure you have OblivionReborn.esp activated (see Tutorial for instructions) and the latest version of OR.

Q: How do I connect to a server?
A. The Tutorial has instructions for this.

Q: How do I know if I connected successfully?
A. Open the console. If it says "Successfully connected to server" you have connected.

Q: How do I talk to other players?
A. For example, in the initial release, open the console (press ~) and type the following: mpchat all 'This is my chat'

Oblivion Reborn Helper

Q: OR:Helper says it detected problems. What do I do?
A. Check the report for the words "error" and "not found". If you can't see the problem, make sure your versions are all correct. If you have tried to play OR, check your OblivionReborn.txt log for any helpful error messages. After all that, if you can't find the answer here, or in existing support threads, post a new thread describing the problem in detail (and including the report).
